Buying my own Prescription Drugs

Why would I want to buy prescription drugs from someone that I
don't know, to cure something that I'm not sure I have? Since I'm not a
Medical Doctor and don't have any kind of PHD, it doesn't seem wise to
purchase and take medications purchased from... Where?
